The country aims to produce 9000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy (RE) in ten years' time, double of today's RE output. This was discussed by the Department of Energy after the approval of Republic Act 9513, or the Renewable Energy Act.
The government agency also expects a total of $15 billion in investments for RE projects. As of this moment, it currently monitors 15 projects, most of which are undertaken by local companies with foreign powers.
