Where is the Power in the People

By Crissy at 02/23/07 20:45

The 21st anniversary of People Power was yesterday, and it went by with little notice, which was much different from the revolution that got it started. Twenty-one years is a long time. The people involved then aged, and younger people are disconnected from it. President Arroyo is doing what she can to build a better Philippines, but even she had to quash a military revolt against her administration a year ago.

Female leadership

By Crissy at 02/10/07 09:47
More and more women are no longer relegated to the shadows. They aren't just on the arm. More women are defense ministers in Latin American countries than ever. A former United States First Lady is running for President. Margaret Thatcher was England's Prime Minister. So then you might want to look to the Philippines and Corazon Aquino. But she rose to power when her husband died.
