Following the policies of most of the world's leading airlines, the country's national carrier, the Philippine Airlines, reduced the baggage load that every passenger can check in for free from 70 pounds to 50 pounds today.
This is part of the effort of the company to keep up with operating costs in the midst of surging oil prices, which has doubled since last year and multiplied by six times since 2002.
