Regularly visited by natural disasters, this one appears to have been man-made. The Commission on Elections building was totally razed by fire on Sunday, raising cries of arson, and fears about the loss of valuable documents and the postponement of the May 14 elections.

Oil siphoned from sunken tanker

Work has begun by an expert Italian firm to siphon off oil from the oil tanker that sank of the Philippines coast seven months ago causing tremendous spillage and pollution of the coastline.
