In a country where 70% of its netizens are connected to the Internet via cyber cafes, any company that would partner these cyber cafes will tap a large market.

This is the strategy that will be employed by Yahoo!, which is seeking to get a larger Philippine footprint. After establishing a Philippine office, it now aims to partner with the thousands of cyber cafes in the country.

Urgent Bridges Construction Project for Rural Development

A 40 meter bridge in Laguna funded by Japan was inagurated on Monday. The bridge will connect Cavinti Proper and Caliraya Lake site and promises to boost the Caliraya lake Eco-Tourism,safe flow of goods and people within the area.

The Cavinti Bridge is part of the Urgent Bridges Construction Project for Rural Development and funded by japan through an 8 billion loan on JICA with an interest rate of 0.95% per annum.

Five A's of Tourism

Samie Lim, vice chair of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce said the Local Government Units should focus on the five key sectors to be one of the most popular tourist destination. The five key a.k.a. the five A's of tourism is composed of arrival, access, accommodations, attractions, and activities.

Tourism is a growing industry in the Philippines, Lim said that it should follow and develop the business model for tourism of Malaysia.

Iloilo hosts national tourism convention

Iloilo City played host to the recently concluded 9th National Convention of the Association of Tourism Officers. The 4-day convention featured government officials such as local chief executives and tourism officers.

Among the issues discussed are the impact of increased tourism to the local government units (LGUs), ways to further improve the country's position in the international tourism industry, and how to strike a balance between tourism and agriculture.
