EU ambassador Alistair MacDo­nald, announced that a European Union team would come to the Philippines to take part in the investigations launched into the series of extra-judicial political murders, blamed by the UN on members of the military.

Ombudsman appeals for Judges of integrity

State ombudsman, Merceditas Navarro-Gutierrez, appealed to President Arroyo and the Judicial authorities to appoint people of greater 'integrity, competence and character' to the Court of Appeals (CA)in place of the corrupt individuals who were often appointed previously.

Plea bargain opposed by lawyers in mutiny case

An attempt to arrange a plea bargain with one of the defendants in the coup d’etat case against 31 junior officers has been opposed by lawyers representing the others charged. The arrangement would have allowed him to plead guilty to the lesser charge of conspiracy.
