High level military officials could be held accountable for the murders of political activists. There is a disconnect about who gave the orders and how it all relates. Most of those murdered were ordinary people, but there's also an "unusual trend" of activist killings.

Cashews could become a Philippine export

More than 100 people gathered in Puerto Princesa City to talk cashews. It was a Cashew Investment Forum themed, "Cashing in on Cashew". The Philippines is looking to the cashew market as a viable export.

PWC creates exhibit to celebrate Fine Arts week

From February 4 to 10, the Philippine Women's College of Davao celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Helena Z. Benitez School of Fine Arts and Culture's Excellence in Curricular Program Studies in the Arts in Mindanao. The celebration was a week-long visual arts exhibit at the Entertainment Plaza of SM City Davao. In addition to the exhibits there were workshops and tours.

Not all tourists to Boracay are there to see the sites. Many go there to purchase a minor child. End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and the Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes, a non-government agency also known as ECPAT International, recently shared the results of a study that aimed to generate public awareness on the commercial sexual exploitation of children.

Philippines should be tougher on poachers

The Philippines goes above and beyond to protect and preserve its wildlife. The Philippines ranks eighth on endangered mammals, and third on threatened birds, out of 25 global hotspots. But having 44 percent of its bird species and 64 percent of its mammals be unique to the country attracts a criminal element that wants to capitalize on it for themselves. Combine that with the flak that Philippine officials get for trying to enforce their laws and it's a very difficult situation.
