Filipinos choosing jobs over school

By Crissy at 02/22/07 20:22

Filipinos used to place education in very high regard. That is not the case anymore. With the Internet and easy access to knowledge fewer people are pursuing education, preferring instead to go work in call centers where the money is good. Education is seen as elitist and an education in engineering or science as dull. Reality television makes it seem that everyone can easily become a celebrity and hobnob with the rich an powerful.

Restaurant gives Filipino food good presentation

By Crissy at 02/22/07 20:15
Around the world Filipino food does not enjoy the same level of popularity that Japanese and Chinese food do. It could be the presentation. Chinese and Japanese foods are made to look appealing so the diners are more conditioned to know that the food will be appealing. Chef Gascon at C2 Restaurant is trying to change that by offering native Filipino food that is presented elaborately to tease the senses.

Bookstore and coffee shop

By Crissy at 02/22/07 20:06
There's a bookstore in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, that has everything everyone might want: great books, great music, great food, and great coffee. No longer do you have to be stifled and quiet in the library or regular book store. Visit Liberia and snuggle up in a big chair with a book on almost any topic then enjoy a cup of “Libbrews” coffee, the store's own line, which use all local coffees.
