80,000 families get displaced in the South

Labor department reminds companies of holiday pay

August 18 and 25 are holidays in the Philippines. Supposedly, workers should get additional pay if they ever work during these days. Sugar production expected to go down

Sugar production in the Philippines is foreseen to go down by as much as ten percent due to pressures coming in from high fuel and fertilizer prices, according to the country's sugar institute.

Senator alleges 'shell corporation' to hide money laundered

In yet another show of senatorial might, Senator Ana Madrigal alleged that the management consultancy firm she had linked to House Speaker Jose Nograles is just a 'shell corporation' that hides the money laundered from the swine loan deal between Landbank of the Philippines and Quedan Corp.

Now, the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is looking if this has anything to do with President Arroyo's re-election campaign in 2004.
