August 18 and 25 are holidays in the Philippines. Supposedly, workers should get additional pay if they ever work during these days. However, there are a lot of small private companies who do not abide these rules. Laws against these violations are not that stringent and so a lot of them get away with it.
Now, the local labor department is reminding companies about the additional pay. I wonder how may will listen.
