Even there is a certain downturn in the ethanol industry is U.S. due to lesser demand for oil, Philippines is still pushing with the operation and development of such facilities in the southern part. Like the San Carlos BioEnergy which already started commercial operations with integrated ethanol distillery and co-generation power plant just this January. The plant could produce 125,000 litter of ethanol daily and could generate 8 megawatts of power with feedstock coming for 400,000 tons of sugarcane from 9,000 hectares of San Carlos City in Negros Occidental.
