Phiilippine president convinces oil firms to cut prices

After meeting up with top officials in the local oil industry, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has convinced oil companies to cut their diesel prices by as much as one peso and fifty centavos per litre of diesel.

Quite naturally, this has sent a bad message to the corporate world, which is fretting over the government's intervention in market movement.
