Two policement murdered

Two policemen were ambushed and murdered just outside of Manila in the small town of Taytay on Sunday. The murder is presumed to be in retaliation by militants sympathetic towards the separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). Police raided raided an area where MILF members were suspected to be hiding in the predawn hours of February 1. Two suspected MILFs were captued and one killed in the raid.

Organ brokers are under scrutiny

Organ brokers have been preying on the poor people in the Philippines. President Gloria Arroyo has now ordered a closer watch on the more predominately poor areas to stop this practice that is endangering health and lives.
