House initiates move to amend RP Constitution

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's allies in the House of Representatives are inititating moves to amend the Constitution, which can have possible effects on the state of the national elections next year.

The Palace has publicly announced that it is distancing itself from ths issue, fearing that this may increase the political tension in the Southeast Asian country.

President Arroyo is barred from running for re-election, as stated in the Philippine Constitution.
